Build a codebook with unlimited nesting and researcher-chosen colors. Apply multiple codes to the same passage, annotate each application, drag to reparent, and merge codes — with every action captured in an immutable audit log.

AI-assisted coding — you stay in control

Three opt-in modes: suggest codes for a selection, propose new codes across documents, and batch-review a whole transcript. Every suggestion carries its rationale and requires an explicit accept or reject. AI-applied codes are visually distinct and never auto-committed.

Collaboration & intercoder reliability

Assign coders to documents, code independently, then run an ICR session that computes Cohen's κ and percentage agreement. Compare coders side by side and resolve each disagreement with a recorded rationale.

Search, boolean queries & KWIC

Full-text search across every document (Unicode-aware, so non-Latin scripts work), plus boolean code retrieval with AND / OR / NOT. Results render keyword-in-context and link straight back to the passage. Export any result set.

Visualizations

Code-frequency bars, a codebook treemap, a code-frequency cloud, and a timeline — all interactive, all respecting your code colors, and exportable as PNG or SVG.

Memos, reflexivity journal & audit trail

Write analytical memos linked to a project, document, code, or segment, and keep a private reflexivity journal only you can see. A write-only audit trail records every coding action and exports to Excel or JSON for your methods appendix.

Teams for educators

Built for instructors teaching analysis. An organization admin appoints team leaders; each leader creates up to 10 teams — one per class or cohort — and assigns members of the organization as instructors, assistants, or students. A $10-per-team-per-year add-on with volume discounts available.

Export & interoperability

Coded transcripts to PDF and Word with highlights preserved, a code-segment matrix to Excel or CSV, theme summaries, the full audit trail, and a complete JSON project backup you can re-import. Optional anonymization scrubs participant identifiers on the way out.

On-device document storage

Choose at project creation where your source files live. In local mode your documents — full text and originals — stay in a folder on your own device via your browser's secure file access; our servers never receive or store the content, only the metadata needed to run your project. Same price as cloud.

Bring-your-own-key encryption — we can't read your documents

Researchers can turn on High Security and enterprises can set an org-wide policy: you supply a public key and Resonance keeps only that public half, so we can encrypt your source documents but cannot read them. Covered cloud document files are envelope-encrypted at rest — RSA-OAEP with AES-256-GCM — and decrypted entirely in the key holder's browser, so the server only ever holds ciphertext it can't open. Org admins can force at-rest encryption for members across cloud, on-device, or both. This covers your original document files; extracted text, codes, and memos remain server-readable so search and AI keep working — full-content coverage is staged. Lose your private key and that data is unrecoverable, by design.

Enterprise single sign-on — OIDC & SAML 2.0

Sign in through your organization's identity provider over OIDC or SAML 2.0. Works with your IdP — Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace, OneLogin, Auth0, plus SAML IdPs like ADFS, Shibboleth, and PingFederate. Users are provisioned automatically on first login, SAML enrolments get per-enrolment service-provider metadata with signed authentication requests and validated assertions, and access is routed by your verified email domain. SAML is service-provider-initiated, and each enrolment goes live after a Resonance review.

Automated provisioning, instant off-boarding & domain-verified routing

SCIM 2.0 keeps your directory in sync: when your IdP marks a user inactive, Resonance immediately revokes their active sessions and blocks sign-in. Prove ownership of each email domain with a DNS TXT record before any provider is routed to it, and run several identity providers under one organization — for example Okta for staff and Entra ID for a subsidiary — with each sign-in routed automatically by the user's verified domain. Group-to-project-role mapping stays a deliberate, manual step.

Data residency you choose

Decide at project creation where your documents live. On-device mode keeps your source files — full text and originals — in a folder on your own machine, while Resonance holds only the metadata and an integrity hash. Sensitive secrets such as API keys and SSO credentials are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, and data in transit is protected with TLS. For BYOK-covered documents your own key gates the original files; the rest of the datastore relies on host-level disk encryption.
